First Fridays Art Walk proves that the arts can play a vital role in the renewal of Downtown Richmond while creating awareness of the Region’s thriving arts scene.
What began as a grassroots initiative to organize the traditional “first Fridays” opening receptions and attract more visitors to Downtown, has become Richmond’s most popular arts event and has made Downtown our premier cultural destination. First Fridays Art Walk is a multidisciplinary arts and cultural event and takes place on the first Friday of each month, rain or shine, generally between 5-10pm and features nearly 40 diverse galleries, cultural organizations, shops, and restaurants located along Historic Broad Street, east of Belvidere St and into Historic Jackson & Monroe Wards.
Entering its 9th Season, First Fridays has helped revitalize downtown into a burgeoning arts and cultural district and is home to diverse galleries, unique boutiques, incredible dining, fine accommodations, cultural entities, and independent studios. Downtown has become THE cultural destination of Richmond thanks to our organization - CURATED CULTURE - and our efforts and that of our participating venues, as well as the generosity of our Presenting Sponsor the University of Richmond whose support keeps First Fridays on the calendar and free to the community.
