As First Fridays has grown over the last decade, changes have become necessary to meet the increase in visitors and participating venues and growing residential community. This growth has necessitated revisiting the street activities in order to maintain safe and friendly pedestrian areas. With over 40 participating partner sites, Curated Culture announces changes to First Fridays Art Walk beginning October 7, 2011.

Earlier Hours 5:00pm-9:00pm
No music or other entertainment on the sidewalks
Street vendors must have the required 'Downtown Business District' permit from the City Department of Finance
(applies to private and public property)

Ample parking is available in Downtown along the street and at nearby paid honor lots. Free parking is available first come first served at Centenary United Methodist Church at 4th and East Grace Street, St. Paul's Episcopal Church at 8th and East Grace Street, plus at the Jefferson Hotel with any purchase at Lemaire restaurant with validation.

Downtown is also home of Richmond's most popular arts and cultural program – First Fridays Art Walk – a monthly event showcasing over 30 diverse small businesses, working studios, and cultural organizations. This burgeoning arts and cultural district is located east of Belvidere Street and west of 7th Street, and between Monroe Ward to the south and Jackson Ward to the north. Home to diverse art galleries, unique boutiques, incredible dining, fine accommodations, cultural entities, and independent studios; Downtown has become the cultural destination for Richmond.
Beyond the galleries, restaurants and storefronts, you'll find an equally impressive array of apartments and condos and a collection of nonprofits, architectural firms, advertising agencies, recording studios, law firms, and other innovative businesses that make up the heart of the community 24/7. Whether you're attending First Fridays, taking a meeting at a local coffee shop, experiencing a concert at one of the local performing arts facilities, or shopping at the growing number of locally owned businesses, anytime is a great time to be Downtown!
For as little as $25, you can help support Downtown's rebirth as Richmond's cultural destination.
