Natural Inconclusion: Works by Jason Lanka and Joe Meiser
The boundaries between human and nature swell and retreat like an oceans tide. Technology and urbanization move us further away from nature, but yet we still yearn for it and try to fabricate it through these mediums. Is it natural for humans to recreate nature? Jason Lanka’s and Joe Meiser’s sculptures exemplify the human condition and its dialogue with nature in the current cultural climate.

The amazing exhibition consists of eighteen objects and is considered to be one of the finest collections of the royal art of Benin. Among the works shown from the collection are heads of the Oba and the Queen Mother. Other items from the collection that would be placed on the royal altar include figures of priests, warriors and court attendants.

Poe's Playground
Poe's Playground is a satellite exhibition at the Linden Row Inn presented by 1708 Gallery. The exhibition will feature works of or inspired by author Edgar Allen Poe, such as Caryl Burtner's "Exorcism of Page 13" series to be countered with tongue and cheek work such as John Moser's studies for "The Putt and the Pendulum" golf course, and Noah Scalin's popular Skull-A-Day Series. Don’t miss the opportunity to experience Linden Row’s gorgeous outdoor courtyard between 6-11pm to enjoy live music and cash bar featuring premium wines and beers.

First Fridays: July 3, 6-11pm
Exhibition: continuing through August 25, 2009

Linden Row Inn is a 70-room boutique historic hotel located in the heart of Downtown Richmond. The hotel is comprised of seven row houses built in the mid-1800’s, and meticulously restored over the years.  The hotel’s guest rooms are furnished with antiques from the middle and late 1800’s, and the hotel is proud to be featured on the National Registry of Historic Places. The Linden Row Inn proudly exhibits art from well-known local and national artists in its lobby and garden courtyard areas.
